Carnival Cruise = A big money making scheme.
Its not enough that the price is high for what you get, but the add-ons once youre on board are criminal. For a family of four you are charged $280, as gratuity. We were told that the dinning is included in the price and told not to tip. They also add a 15% tip to any, alcoholic or not, drink you order.
As for the stops, two are to private locations where you are essentially held hostage because the only things to do there are highly over priced or if you dont want to pay those prices for their excursions you can shop at their stores.
The excursions on average are twice as expensive as the (same) companies directly charg. We decided not to book any excursion through Carnival and simply disembarked, in two of the stops, and asked the Welcome Center for info and had the same excursion for half the price.
Food mediocre. One can only eat so much chicken and pasta. Breakfast was the exactly the same everyday.
On-board Activities/Shows They sound great on paper. Every activity was rushed or had a price tag and then was rushed. Some of the shows where good, but just like the activities they rushed or late and shortened.
Disembarking was a mess. I went to guest services and told them we had a 12:30 pm flight and wanted to make sure we would make it on time. They assured me that everybody would be off the ship by 9:00 am. Perfect I thought, what could go wrong. It was 10:00 am before we where allowed to leave the ship because it was raining and they did not want the luggage to get wet. Lying bastards, everything in my luggage was soaked and we had to run through the airport to make our flight.
If you do not party, get drunk and stay up late, and of course have lots of expendable cash Carnival cruises are not for you
