We boarded the Jewel of the Seas in Boston on 10/8/11 for a 7 day cruise! We really lucked out with the weather because it was warm and sunny in most of our ports, although Halifax was a little on the chilly side. Our timing was perfect too for the changing colors of the trees - breathtaking!!!!
All in all it was a wonderful trip and we had a hard time complaining about anything!!! We even won money in the casino!!!!
The ship was immaculate, the staff very friendly and the food very good! We did two tours through the ship in St. John and in Halifax which were interesting but a little on the pricey side for what you got!
The only dissapointment we felt was the entertainment shows in the evenings. They had fantastic singers and dancers but only performed two shows, the other shows were a juggler, an Elvis impersonator and a comidian. I was expecting more of a Las Vegas style Broadway show every night as I have experienced on other cruises.
I would recommend this More trip and this cruise line to everyone Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Probably one of our favorite ports because it was a very quaint little harbor town with lots of restaurants and shops. We took a tour through town up to Cadillac Mountain - very fun with beautiful views.

Spent two days in Boston before getting on the ship. Saw the majority of the points of interest through the hop on hop off guided trolly bus which included a harbor cruise. Loved Boston!!

Halifax was a nice place to visit with the bag pipers meeting the ship when we pulled up! Took the tour to Peggy's Cove - which should not be missed. Beautiful 1 1/2 drive to get there but well worth it! Tour guide was very informative - don't miss the Maritime Museum too!!!

Portland was a nice town but not too much to see besides the one lighthouse.

St. John was alot more of an industrial city than I was expecting. Took the 7 hour tour to Saint Martin, a small fishing village, and the caves. Make sure you have a bowl of clam chowder soup at the beach - the best you will ever have in your life!
