Shopping Mall on the Ocean

Sail Date: September 2011
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

I'll be brief, this was prepared for friend with whom we have sailed many times on RCCL.

First, the entertainment on the ship is outstanding. Better than any others in recent years.
Be sure to see the Broadway show, Ice Show and Blue Planet (if still playing).
We also enjoyed the 3D movies in the theater.
Be sure to make reservations for the shows about 2 months before you board (online) They're all complimentary.

Full breakfast (omelets) with toast etc. Salmon Plate (cold) with Bagel, etc. ave available in the lounge. Truly nice. (No omelets in the Windjammer)

NOTE: we were told there was a charge for cranberry & V8 juice in Main Dining Room...

In the Diamond Plus Lounge - Lunch - nice shrimp and calamari - onion rings were fabulous, salads, Club Sandwich, Soup, Steak Sandwich, twin mini burgers ... complimentary wine served at lunch

We ate at Giovanni's - MDW had the stuffed shrimp, I had the Steak with garlic fries. We shared More crab filled ravioli and an antipasti - served family style.
We went the first night and used our diamond plus 50% off coupon (only good the first night) Our waiter was Youssef - he was great!

Other folks raved about Chops -
All of the specialty restaurants were well spoken about.

I did not like the windjammer (breakfast) as they so not have an omelet station, also tight seating and very crowded.
Much preferred the diamond plus lounge.

Elevators are slow, usually crowded, often had to go up to go down when they got busy.
Ship is a marvel... a must see to believe.
Just read the specs and then try to imagine "how did they do that?"

Balcony and cabin was small (standard cabin) - no take home logo gifts, embarkation was fabulous (incredibly fast) - disembarkation.. long lines.. 45 minutes from when we were called, to at luggage area..

Lounge was very busy as it services both diamond plus and suite guests. Takes forever to get a drink. Was on Deck 11 (not accessible from 12 as appears on deck plan)
Cabin/Balcony air conditioning - terrible system, once the balcony door handle is in the unlocked position (not necessarily door open) the AC shuts off.

Ambassador cruise planning - always VERY busy. Must make reservations to see him/her.

Not at all the usual intimate service we are accustomed to on smaller ships! Lounge staff is just too busy to pay personal attention expected.
Hope you find it better than we experienced.

Beds great, AC throughout the ship excellent, amenities so, so .... chocolates on the pillow again. Less
