Should you be worried when about half a dozen people, including a cruise staff comment that you are too young to be on this ship? Maybe, but we found that there was lots to do and many great people to meet aboard the Caribbean Princess. We took advantage of trying a little bit of everything on board including the casino, Lotus Spa, basketball tournaments, comedy shows, specialty restaurants and many shore excursions. We found the staff in all areas to be very attentive and warm. They went out of their way to get to know us and greeted us by name in Vines, the International Cafe and the Casino. We enjoyed going to tea, breakfast in the main dining rooms and other public areas where we could meet and talk to more experienced cruisers to her about their travels and itineraries and get tips for future cruises. The food was excellent, especially in the Crown Grill, the main dining room and the International Cafe and Vines. We only went to the buffet once for breakfast when we slept in. We enjoyed our Caribbean Princess trip and would happily sail with her again.

Cabin review: Balcony

BDB414
A standard balcony cabin with no obstructions in view. Close to elevators and stairs. Not too noisy considering the high traffic area. Great location to get to any part of the ship.

We really enjoyed our lunch at Stewman's and had the lobster roll lunch. It was very good and there was little wait. We did a ship arranged tour on a schooner and a drive to Cadillac Mountain. The schooner was basically a harbor cruise but we did see some bald eagles nesting and flying around. The crew aboard the ship was pleasant. The drive to Cadillac mountain was quick and at the end of the day right before having to get back on board. It was more fun exploring on our own. Next time we would have rented scooters and planned our own adventure.

In Boston we did the ship arranged Freedom Trail walking tour. Our guide was John and he provided great narration for our walk. We covered a lot of areas during the tour but no one seemed to have problems keeping up. He was not one of the guides dressed in costume which might have gotten annoying after awhile. We had an excellent lunch at Ned Devine's in Quincy Market - all the food was excellent especially the lobster mac and cheese and the fish and chips.

We spent the first part of the day on our own. We walked the harbor and went to the Citadel to explore on our own. We had a terrible lunch at the Halifax Alehouse on our way back from the Citadel. The service was very poor, the beer was flat, and the fish and chips were greasy. Would not recommend going there at all! The second half of our day was an arranged Pub Tour that took us to three pubs led by a bagpiper and had a band The MacDonald's that was at each location leading us in song. The guides were Marty and Don and they had tons of energy and were a lot of fun. The pubs were standard fare and most served Alexander Keith IPA as the sample drink. The first did not take credit cards and gave a terrible exchange rate on the American dollar.

We did two activities in Newport. The first on our own was renting "Zoot Scoots" which are three wheeled vehicles you can drive around the area. It gave us a great overview of the area and could stop when we saw anything interesting. The second thing we did was arranged through the ship - it was a Segway tour of Newport. This was very fun and very easy to do for any age! There was about 8-10 people in our group and we got to do part of the cottages and cliff walk areas, stopping for history along the way. We had a great and knowledgeable guide named Leslie who knew a lot about the area.

Despite some threatening rain we had the best time kayaking the Saint John River. This tour arranged by the ship was excellent. Amazing guides led by Walter. Very knowledgeable and helpful to both experienced and beginner kayakers. We saw fossils, eagles nest, lighthouse and the beginning of the fall leaves changing. We had lunch in a community center (was to be on beach but changed due to weather) of whole lobsters, mussels, salad and fresh pies. Food was very good. Lobsters from Bay of Fundy very sweet! Stopped at reversing rapids on way back to ship. Still had plenty of time for shopping and exploring on own.
