Compare Prices on Costa Serena Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruises

Sail Date: October 2011
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

Just got back from our first cruise on the Costa Serena . There was eight of us in our party and we travelled on the first week in October. Some things were excellent and some were poor .
Fist the good bits .
The ship was excellent very big and very clean . The staff which were mostly from the Pillopeans were again excellent ,and so was the food .
THE disappointing bits .
There was only 12 English passengers on board and we only spoke to one English crew member . So out of a ship full about 3000 passengers you felt a bit out of it . There was only one draft beer which was Carlsberg Lager at 5.18 Euros for a 400ml glass . The entertainment was very low key and nothing for the English . Out of the ports of call . Barcelona was very good ,and we enjoyed Palma (mainly because it was pretty English). The other places we visited were average to poor .Our main grumble was the 15% service charge that was on everything you purchased on board plus the 49 euros you each had to More pay at the end of your trip . So out of a total spend of 500 euros between the two of us . 200 euros of that was service charges . As we never dream of tipping some one 200 euros we thought it was a bit much .
Overall we all enjoyed the cruise and thought it was not bad value for the 539 each that we had payed for it . But having said that , if we did another one , we would only go on an English Ship Less
