We sailed the Valor on 10-2-2011 headed for a beautiful Western Caribbean itinerary. We arrived in Miami two days prior and stayed at a very clean, nice art deco hotel (Hotel 18, the name because it is on 18th Street) in Miami Beach. The hotel was a fantastic start to a great vacation. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice and we enjoyed our stay so much we arranged for a room again on our return for another night.

Since this was our first cruise we started out slow by taking a interior stateroom catagory 4B. The bed was a king and extremely comfortable sleeping. The interior cabin was nice and dark and I enjoyed that. We were located port side aft. We were on Deck 2 (Main) and found it very quiet. The only complaint I could find during the entire cruise was most everyday around 2:00-3:00pm we could smell fumes that smelled like varnish or paint thinner. As soon as I complained they sent someone down to investigate and sure enough they could smell it also, so they send someone to the room to "freshen" it up. We came back in about an hour and they had an Ozone Generator in the room and it indeed had removed the smell and we never smelled it again.

Embarkation wasn't bad, we probably completed it in less than a half hour. We carried a 12 pack of Pepsi on board and they opened it to search it.
