I have been on many cruises and this is the second time I have cruised on the Dawn. The first time was our wedding cruise in 2004 (New York to the Southern Caribbean). I was somewhat hesitant to book this cruise after reading some of the negative reviews. I have to say that we were so glad that we did.

Embarkation and Disembarkation was a breeze. Our mini-suite (the same one we had last time) was large and clean. Our room steward was the best; he always greeted us by name and catered to our every request. The food was great. Most nights we ate in the Venetian where the food and service was excellent. We did go to the Bistro, as we had our wedding dinner there the last time, and it was wonderful. Our only negative experience of the whole trip was the night we ate at Bamboo. The service was offensive and the food was just so-so. We complained and were adequately compensated. The breakfast and lunch fare in the garden cafe was good. They could try for more variety as it was exactly the same day after day. The evening entertainment was top notch. The cruise director was excellent and tried his best. I found that the daytime activities a bit wanting, as it seems that everything was geared to getting you to spend money. The pool is crowded as on any other ship.

Bermuda was as beautiful. I have been there on many cruises and was therefore not disappointed we left early (to avoid tropical storm Katia). It was a wise decision as we had a very smooth sailing. Read more
