Cruising from Liverpool's Langton Dock, England
Destination: Europe - British Isles & Western
My daughter wanted to give me a grand holiday cruising round Britain, visiting Scotland Guernsey the Scilly Isles and Ireland, the weather decided otherwise. With force 9-10 winds off Scotland loosing the ropes at the Langton Dock in Liverpool became a problem, nevertheless the cruise company re-organised (which must have racked up the phone bill looking for alternative berths, tugs and supplies).
Our first port of call Dublin was excellent, we sought out the Book of Kells and sent off our first postcards just to confuse our relatives, good fun. Next misty Fowey (pronounced Foy) where we were towed into harbour backwards (that was interesting). Off to Honfleur and delicious icecream while sat by the waterside and then on to Rouen, somewhere we didn't expect to see on this cruise, back to Falmouth and then off to Cork where the QM2 had pinched our berth, never mind the crew managed, as they did all along the cruise.
The crew were all excellent, friendly, helpful More and generous with their time and patience. The food was first class and plentiful and once we'd found the boat deck and endless tea or coffee we were happy, we also had the choice of all our meals from the buffet on the boat deck which was fine till the weather improved and the shy ones hiding inside decided it was safe outside now and tried to turn the eating area into a reading room. Once we got over our disappointment of not getting what we wanted everything was excellent and thank you Natalia for the lovely towel sculptures you did for us each night. The hygiene on board was excellent with crew cleaning handrails, picture frames, high pressure steam cleaning carpet edges, cleaning toilets each time of use and well they were all just cleaning up behind us, and I thank them all.
