Ship Facts: Carnival Pride Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Pride Deck Plans
Pride still the best for DC area
This was our 2nd time on the Pride and our 4th Spirit class cruise. Still feel that the Spirit class is the way to go. Not to big, plenty of space

Embarkation: Way smoother than when we were on the Pride 2 years ago. We pulled in the parking lot at 10:45 and were on the lido eating lunch by 12:15. The port staff were entertaining and offered trivia questions and karaoke to pass the time. They even gave out the patented gold plated ship on a stick if you were willing to go up and play along.

It should be noted that the week we returned, my parents were getting on. Their embarkation was not nearly as smooth as we were late getting back to port. Cars were lined up waiting to get in until after 11. However, they did call to state that they were on the lido by 12:45

Room: We were in 8189 which is great for being right by the elevator and stairs; however you can hear staff rolling carts over the sliding doors at odd hours. Balcony was well maintained as always. This is the first time that we did not get to meet our room steward until the 3rd day of the cruise. The room was well kept; just never saw him or his assistant.

DEcor: Yes it is full of nudes. Yes some of the wallpaper is brown. Get over it. The theme is the renaissance art. What do you expect you would see in museums? The lounges and Normandy dining room is not dark. Your room is not dark.

Entertainment: Let me start by stating our family is divided on karaoke and the legends show. Husband loves it, likes to be in it, I HATE IT. I do not pay to have other passengers entertain me. I loathe karaoke because it always seems like overly happy (i.e. inebriated) and then the very few who you would like to hear. This time over half the "stars" forgot the entire verses. The shows are the same old vroom, and jazzing. Hopefully the new shows will be rolled out soon.

Serenity Deck is AWESOME. Love the new chairs. You were able to get a chair if you were out by 8:30. After that, it was a tad difficult. You were able to find chairs at the other pool areas.

Ports: Margaritaville Pool was a lot of fun. Highly recommend getting a cabana as you can lock your things up. Half moon cay, can't wait to go back. There was a little grumble to be the first one off the boat as we had LOTS and LOTS of VIP "priority" tenders. The line was down the stairs and almost all the way back to the mid ship elevators at 8:30. But if you were patient, no worries. Freeport is probably my least favorite port. We just did some shopping and the husband played at the casino.

Food: We did have the benefit of the new menu. We were able to find something to eat every night on the daily specials. No we did not try alligator or snails. The mac and cheese is the bomb. Recommend you get whatever you want and order the mac and cheese to share with your table as a side yummy. Desserts were still the same

Debarkation: This is where work still needs to be done. Yes we were a little late getting back because of the delay in leaving Freeport (never got an explanation why we were 2 hours late getting away). However, with more than half the passengers either having priority disembarking or doing self assisted; well the wait was a tad long if you waited for your number. The other issue is that it was COLD and rainy coming back. If they had used the pool cover, so that there was additional seating, it would have been OK. As it was, everyone went to the buffet and refused to move after eating so if you tried to eat after 8 am, nowhere to sit except in the cold on the pool deck. Then if you were waiting in the casino, you had smokers. The policy is supposed to be if the casino is closed no smoking but that rule was out the window.
