Ship Facts: Freedom of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Freedom of the Seas Deck Plans
Freedom of the Seas - Western Caribbean, Sept 2011
My wife and I, as well as another couple, sailed Sept 18th through 25th, 2011. This was our second sailing on the FOS and our 5th sailing with RCCL. As always, RCCL does the job and does it well !!!!! This year we had the "Ben and Jerry's Sweet". We booked while on board last year and it was fun to have this cabin, as I had read about it here on Cruise Critic and it is the only cabin like it on the ship. We got free ice cream every night, as well as access to the concierge club on deck 10. Unfortunately, we did not really learn what it was really all about, until the last night of the cruise. That was a BIG mistake !! lol Next year, we will not wait so long to enjoy it.

So here is what we did for excursions, for each of the ports of call....

Labadee, Haiti - Dragon Coaster was booked as soon as we boarded the ship, but upon arrival to Haiti, the coaster was broken. Yes, we were bummed, but we were of course refunded our money and we spent the day relaxing on the beach with a frozen drink.... or two.

Falmouth, Jamaica - Wow !!! This new port seems to be coming together quite well. It is brand new and it looks beautiful. Here we booked a private excursion to the the Hilton Rose Hall Resort..... AMAZING !!!!! We paid $90/person, but it included the taxi/transfer to and from the port, unlimited alcohol/drinks, as well as food. Jerk Chicken, Beef Patties, etc !!!!! So good. Trish was our server for the day and was so sweet. She even popped out of the bushes with a tray of drinks for us, as she had noticed we were empty, while we were floating down the lazy river. lol The resort grounds were BEAUTIFUL !!!! There was a couple different pools, a lazy river, a water slide, poolside entertainment, a beautiful beach and non-motorized watersports were included. Towels too !!!

George Town, Grand Cayman - This is our favorite port of call !!! This was our fourth visit to the Cayman's and every time we book the same private excursion. We use a company by the name of Fat Fish Adventures..... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Their Jet Ski Tour takes you through the mangroves, out to Stingray City to swim with and feed the stingrays, out to the reef for some snorkeling and then to Starfish Island, to see the beautiful starfish. Every time is just as exciting as the first. They are some really great people!!!

Cozumel, Mexico - This year we visited Park Royal, which is in fact a timeshare, but they utilize a "day-pass" for $40/person and it is unlimited food and alcohol/drinks. BEAUTIFUL grounds and BEAUTIFUL views!!!! They have multiple pools and hot tubs. Bu the best part for us, was the beautiful "infinity edge" pool, with swim-up bar, located right in front of the cruise terminal, with an AMAZING view of the cruise ships!!!! They also have a great little beach and the snorkeling was great, for a free swim-in snorkel spot.

RCCL has always done an amazing job every time we have sailed with them. Their customer service is what brings up back time and time again. The Freedom of the Seas is in great shape and the upgrades they added since our last cruise, were very cool. They now have Dreamworks Entertainment as a sponsor/theme, so all the characters were on board. They also added a new BIG SCREEN on the pool deck. It is a beautiful screen and they even play movies, as well as NFL football !!!! We ate in Chops one of the nights and it was amazing. This was our second time at Chops, so next year we will be dinning in Portofino's for our one upgraded dinner. We even got to check out a movie while on board on the last sea day, in their screening room. Vintages wine bar is beautiful and there are plenty of selections. We booked two more cruises with RCCL while were on board. They are amazing and will keep us coming back for many years to come!!!!!

Overall, we had yet another amazing cruise !!!!!!
