We stayed there for 4 nights and done the usual tourist and shopping stuff in San Francisco. Morning of cruise left Hotel around 11.30 and taxi to cruise terminal. After drop off there was a bit of confusion on where to go and getting a porter to handle luggage. However soon sorted out and quickly checked in and boarded. We were in our stateroom by 12.20. Our first stop was to get some laundry done as we had been travelling a few days.We took what we needed to wash and laundry sheets in hand luggage. At first laundromat was closed so we went for lunch and by the time we went back to our deck laundromat was open so got the washing done. On this occasion no problems but at a later point in cruise we had difficulty getting the laundry dry as the dryers seemed to be very cool no matter the setting.
Enough about domestic chores, we had a beautiful sailaway under the Golden Gate Bridge in perfect weather. This set the tone for the rest of the cruise as weather was great. The ship was absolutely fine.We had read a few reviews with negative comments but we really were fully satisfied.
Stateroom - our first time in an inside and found it perfectly acceptable, sufficient storage if a little short on floor space.
Dining - food was good to very good as we experienced from previous Princess cruises. Our experience of anytime dining was fine no real waits for tables as we were mostly prepared to share. We ate also in the buffet and pizzeria some evenings and were more than satisfied with choice and quality.
Staff - A really helpful but unobtrusive stateroom attendant in Myrcel who was always pleasant and smiling. All waiters and bartenders encountered were very efficient.
Entertainment- Not a big thing for us but enjoyed the navigation lecture from the Senior second mate. The noise from MUTS (especially rock concerts during the day) was a pain with U2 a prime example.
The ship generally - all kept very clean and well maintained.
Overall a very good cruise and would do it all again tomorrow.
Disembarkation - We were collecting a rental car at Fishermans Wharf and heading south to Los Angeles asked for and got an early disembarkation time and were quickly off the ship. No problem getting a taxi to rental car location and soon on road south. We had a scenic drive down Highway 1 to LA with an overnight at San Simeon where we visited Hearst Castle, carried on to LA where we had a 4 night stay at Redondo Beach until flying back to UK.
