This was a wonderful holiday with lots to do on board and nice people to meet. We enjoyed the daily quizzes, crosswords and sodoku puzzles! The crew were, as always, great fun, kind and helpful. I am told that the average weight gain on a cruise is 1-2 lbs per day - so we were very disciplined about our eating habits!
All the ports we visited were interesting in their own way and the excursions were well planned and informative, with the minimum of hanging around - the organisational skills are superb.
Two small gripes: 1) why do they not have more comfortable seating in the lounges - the 'bucket' style of arm chairs may be more stable in bad weather, but there is no lumber support and I had permanent backache, despite doing 3 pilates classes, 1 yoga class, 3 body massages and several visits to the swimming pool!
2)This was a classical music cruise with some excellent artists on board, but the pianos were in a dreadful state - needed tuning and possibly re-voicing. It should not be necessary to amplify acoustic instruments and the tone of both the violin and 'cello in the piano trio was completely ruined, as was the piano.
We had two recitals from Anthony Peebles, and in the second one the microphone must have bee laid directly on the strings as there was an intrusive buzzing every time the pianist hit certain notes. I don't know how he managed to carry on with such dignity!
