I have been on 14 cruises. This is our second Princess cruise. We were on Princess 7 years ago. We didn't like it very much. The food was not as good as Carnival. We chose Princess this time because the Golden Princess went to Glacier Bay. We chose by itinerary not line or ship. We were pleasantly surprised this time. The food in the dining room was good to very good. The Horizon Buffet was still not to our liking. The flow pattern was very confusing. There is really not a lot of selection. There were so many food choices, this did not upset us at all! We found the International Cafe excellent for a quick breakfast, lunch or snack. The morning donuts were excellent as was the mousse and tiramisu. In fact I liked everything!
The staff was warm and friendly. We had a great room steward that kept everything neat and tidy. This is only the second time we have tried anytime dining. We liked our waiter the second night so much, I called every day and requested his table.
I found the entertainment not very appealing. The shows had little imagination or flair. Of course, Alaska was the star of the show. Most evenings we were so tired, we retired to our cabin early. The highlight of our cruise was on Wednesday in Glacier Bay. I was disappointed it was raining and foggy. As we approached Marjerie Glacier, the clouds lifted enough for us. The park ranger said the calving was the best in several weeks. We saw several large chunks of ice full into the sea. Just as we were pulling away from the glacier, a bald eagle flew right in front of us. It was a beautiful ending to a beautiful day.
It was the near the elevator, but noise was not a problem. Near the laundry, which was convenient.
