First Time Cruises' find it a dream on Dream

Sail Date: September 2011
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Las Palmas

As first time cruisers we went with some friends who had been on Thomson Dream last year and recommended the ship to us, so we joined them this year.

We were unsure about the whole cruise experience but thoroughly enjoyed the week, the staff were excellent! all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There was more food available than you could shake a stick at we found the Orion restaurant the best option for evening meals a great menu selection and amazing team of staff in there.

Barcelona and Calvi were the highlights for us the boat docked only a few minutes walk from Barcelona's Las Ramblas couldn't have been better.   Calvi, Corsica was beautiful, small cobbled streets, local shops and you can climb up to the Citadel for panoramic views over the harbour and town.

Great evening shows on board, always something to do, our Cabin was spacious and comfortable although some control over the air conditioning would have been nice and be warned More that forward cabins (certainly on deck 5) suffer from noise while the ships bow thrusters are running which at 6-7 am might not suit everyone but these are minor details, all in we had a great week on Dream and would definitely go again. Cabin review: Thomson Dream 5019

Our Cabin was generally fine the only complaint being some operational noise from the boat when the bow thrusters were running and the day we anchored out in the bay at Calvi I think the anchor chain was running out from directly under my bed!! don't have a forward cabin go mid ships.

Port and Shore Excursions

Lucky for us the ship docked at Barcelona' World Trade Center only a few minutes walk from the bustle of the town. It was a shame the cable car was closed for maintenance when we were there but we took a city tour on one of the many open top buses to see all the main sites around Barcelona and finished our day with a stroll along the famous Las Ramblas.

Busy commercial port so may not the best location for a cruise ship! but the sun was shining and the drinks were flowing so the scenery didn't matter too much

Sete was a most pretty little town, we went on one of the organised tours which took in the Thau Lagoon and the coach made the climb to the top of Mont St Clair which offered stunning views.
