We were fortunate enough to sail on Holland America's Veendam to Bermuda in September. I enjoy the Veendam because it is a small enough ship to be able to dock at the port in Hamilton. It is so easy to get off and on the ship as often as you like, I by a two day bus pass and explore Bermuda by bus and water taxi. Since we were in the middle of two hurricanes, Irene and Katia, the winds and sea were a bit rough but there was no rain and still plenty of thing to see and experience even though some of the beaches were closed. AS usual the Bermudians were friendly and helpful it is one vacation spot that I would like to more time in. The Veendam is a great ship, small enough that it feels more personalized, the crew call you by name and make certain that you are well taken care of. The food on the ship is excellent and the service at all the dinning areas is fantastic. I have cruised on other lines to Bermuda but as long as Holland America is sending ships their ship there it will be my cruise line of choice.
We stayed in an interior cabin #661. The cabin was a little on the noisy side being close to the Stewart station but it was close to the back elevators and it was on the deck that we disembark from which was convenient for getting off of the ship. We do not book a cruise to spend time in a cabin so the size is of no great importance.
