Just returned from a cruise of the eastern med on the Island Escape. The boat is in great need of some serious updating. Cabin was VERY tatty, bed was VERY lumpy. It was clean and the staff were very helpful and tried to make our stay comfortable. The shower was not working and when reported was repaired and fully working within 20 mins.
Food was plenty full and available 24 hours. Entertainment was good. Don't bother with trip to Tetouan especially as I specifically wanted to see the fabrics produced in the area and am still waiting! City trip to Casablanca and the Mosque was absolutely brilliant and should not be missed.
Ship needs more outside seating as we had to sit on the floor as all of the sun beds and seats we covered in towels, also only areas to sit inside were in the bars.
In the cabin we were on deck 4 so had engine noise which we had expected but there were so many rattles it was unbelievable. If you are hoping to sleep well then forget it!
Gibraltar easy to walk into from ship. Can get taxi trips around the Island for considerable less than if booked on ship and these were plentyful. Could also do dolphin trip independantly. We didn't need this as the dolphins escorted us out of port what a brilliant experience
almeria was very quiet as we arrived on a Sunday. easy to walk in to town. Worth going to the castle as views are excellent. We also stumbled upon a Moroccan craft market this was really interesting, bread making, wool dying, silk spinning and lots of activities going on not sure how often it occurs but it was in the square outside Tourist Info shop. Even though there was a tourist info desk on the port we were not informed of this event so most people missed it
Cartagena (Spain)within 5 mins of port. Pretty town, worth seeing Roman Theatre, buy a ticket for 5 sites for 8 euros its very good value, includes Theatre, castle, glass lift, Civil defence caves from Civil war all within an easy walk
Would I go on this ship again NO. What a shame because you could not wish for a more helpful crew and entertainment team. We did complain about poor tour to Totouan and received 50% refund, we also passed on the comments about the Casablanca tour which was excellent and the guide, coach driver and assistant went out of their way to make this trip brilliant.
Overall enjoyed the break
