Overall we enjoyed our cruise, however, it was our third with Princess but not as good as the previous cruises. Through no fault of Princess the ship was delayed getting to Bergen by 5 hours so shore time was limited. 3 buses were provide to transport 3,000 people from the port to the City hence it took over 1hour 40 minutes in a queue/line to get of the ship. There was no apology or proper explanation and communications were very poor.

In general the price of shore trips/excursions where astronomical for example $170 per person for an all day coach trip with guide to sites that were free access. At fifty people to a coach and only the cost of coach hire and guide you can work the maths yourself to get an idea of how profitable these trips are.In fairness some of the trips were a good day out, on the other hand a waterfall and fifteen minutes in a small botanical garden were not.

There was then a mistake on our bill, on board credit was not off set from my wife's account to my account when we specifically asked if it would be. We asked about this on 2 occasions! This resulted in an unexpected charge which when we complained eventually resulted in the promise of a credit - to date we have not received. In future I will ask for confirmation in writing.

We had Princess extension in New York. We had a 1 hour 15 minute delay getting off the ship, 40 minutes waiting for the coach and 40 minutes in line waiting to be told our transfer details from the hotel to the airport. This could have been done with a note to the room, a notice board or a note on check in. Indeed we got a note from Princess at check in- it was for people going on a Cruise not finishing one!! Overall we probably spent 4 hours of our cruise in Line, not including customs and immigration. They just can't handle the numbers when disembarking or post cruise.

Cabin review: Oceanview

OCP334
Located low on floor 5 and very near to the centre of the ship and facilities. A good cabin for rough weather because you feltless movement but noisy in very rough seas (force 7 plus). There were 2 of us but the room could take 4 and the stowed bunks spoilt the overall look of the room and overhung the double bed at one side. The room was bland. The smallest and poorest cabin we have had with Princess. The window view was fine and the room was warm and cosy and well equipped. Overall the room did not spoil the experience.

Port and Shore Excursions

Port
We had too short a time to see Bergen properly and it was raining hard. What we saw we liked. Buildings and city centre.

We also visited Ports in Iceland and Greenland and the Faroes that are not listed because they are not on the drop down menu on this site. Lerwick Shetland Torshavn Faroes,Nuuk Greenland, all worth seeing for the way of life and scenery

Port
Great City, nice pace of life, clean bright and neat, but bear in mind we saw it on a beautiful sunny day which is far from the norm. The outlying countryside is striking with lots of varied terrain, mountains, massive waterfalls, volcanic springs and geysers. If you are there for a day or so hire car
