Caribbean Princess 1/22/05-1/29/05

Passengers: Me 42, my wife 42, Son 14, Daughter 11, Grandma & Grandpa and a family friend 30s. Ports of call: St. Thomas, St. Maarten & Princess Cays (Bahamas). Weather: Some overcast days and some sunny, average temp in the low 80's Two days before our scheduled flight we learned of a massive snowstorm headed in our direction. As a preemptive measure I decided to roll the dice and a changed our flight to one day earlier (at a cost of $200 for my family of four). As I learned later this was a great move as the Milwaukee airport cancelled all flights the day we were supposed to leave. Lesson learned: When traveling in the winter from the north it is best to schedule your flight to arrive near your port of departure at least one day before.

Pros: We loved it all! The Movies Under the Stars was really great and reminiscent of the old Drive-In days when I was a kid. The stateroom was exactly what I expected. Really, it was like sleeping in a camper. We booked a balcony room, which I highly recommend, and we slept with the door open every night dozed to the sound of the ocean. It was like a dream. Our stateroom attendant, Armando, was very attentive. Although he didn't make the fun little towel or blanket animal shapes we had on Carnival, he had all he could do to keep up with the weird schedules of my family. My 14-year-old son would carouse the ship until 1:30 each night with friends he made and then he would sleep till noon. Needless to say this made it somewhat difficult for Armando to make up our room.
