first timers but not last timers

Sail Date: September 2011
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Venice

this was our first experience ever cruising .what an eye opener it was,i have been putting off this trip for a lot of years ,mainly because of my fear of open water and the fact i cannot swim.well i finally plucked up the courage to do it .and was i in for the biggest surprise of my life.most of the time you would not even know you was on a ship ,so i settled very quickly.and then i received some of the most welcoming crew and staff ever .so friendly and helpful, they cannot do enough for you ,

the food was excellent and plenty of it ,the service on tables was also first class ,the bar-staff again excellent ,the housekeepers did an amazing job everyday the cabin was spotless and always tidy, the entertainment was also a shock to me i was not expecting the standard of entertainment we received.world class artists from all around the world some of the acts were awesome.i really cannot find a bad point to mention .

my wife has me looking for the next cruise already, again More just to say congrats to NCL you certainly have got it right and we will be cruising with you again a massive thanks to all concerned for making our first time so enjoyable .many many many thanks to all concerned Less

Cabin review: IB9071 Mid-Ship Inside

we had an inside cabin which was not massive but it was appropriate for our needs the bed was plenty big enough and comfy the toilet and shower was on the tight for space category but again for the amount of time we spent in cabin overall was acceptable.no complaints about noise level .and it was kept to an excellent level by the housekeepers

Port and Shore Excursions

the port we visited was Piraeus i could not find on list .we where not very happy visiting this port mainly because of taxi strike ,and demonstrations .because of this we decided to stop close to port .in our opinion the port was not one to be recommended, it was dirty ,the drainage system there was very pungent to the point that it made me feel very sick .

what a lovely port this was some excellent historical points

Izmir turkey .what a beautiful port this was clean ,friendly locals ,ideal port for us ,we went to Ephesus on a tour with N.C.L ,what an experience ,first we visited the government run carpet making school which was very good seeing how carpets are made ,then we went on to the highlight of the trip to Ephesus what an awesome place steeped in history ,the guide we had was excellent ,very knowledgeable ,and a lovely sense of humour.so many ruins to look at i was in awe .the mock roman gladiator fight and procession was also very good .(one not to be missed)
