Overall the cruise was a very relaxing, enjoyable and worthwhile vacation.
Cons:
1. Ports of call (Stir-up Cay): Stir up cay is a NCL private island. Not a fan of the un-authentic experience there since NCL used the same band on the beach itself. It essentially was like being on the boat except with sand around. Would be better not to go to an NCL island and have that authentic experience.
2. Band at the pool: Would be nice to have a section of the pool (perhaps this is on a different boat, but not on the GEM) that is just nice and quiet where one can relax. Instead the band was playing very loud and repeated the same songs throughout the week at the pool that it became quite annoying. DJ or radio music at lower sound levels would be preferable.
3. More entertainment for early afternoon: Most of the shows were great but were jammed at 7:30 and 9:30PM. None of us are on a working schedule so why not spread out the entertainment more evenly. Perhaps around the typical dinner schedule (which for most people is 6 - 8 PM). It would be beneficial to have one Stardust show after lunch (around 2-3PM) and then one after dinner (9-10 PM), then spread out the rest of the entertainment evenly around the day. Due to uneven stardust shows, we needed to eat dinner at some points and missed shows as a result etc.
Other than those minor items the cruise was incredible. Highly recommended!
