We sailed on the FOS from 9/4 - 9/11/11. This was our 22nd cruise.....our 8th with Royal. Of course we had another wonderful cruise. Captain Rob truly was the best Captain we have ever had on any ship. Graham Seymour the Cruise Director and his staff were all wonderful. Our cabin steward was fantastic and kept our cabin very clean twice a day and always had kind words and a smiling face. Our waiter Deven and his assistant Carol were "better than excellent". We had my time dining and requested Deven nightly...they work beautifully together and made our dining experience exceptional......the band on the ship "Anastasia" sounded good and we enjoyed listening to them, but unfortunately they didn't play enough "Cha Cha's, East Coast Swing, etc.....the did play a lot of ball room music. Food throughout the ship was delicious from the dining room to Sorrentos............we "held our own" in the casino and had fun playing the slots........
We had gorgeous weather the entire cruise. We got off the ship at each port to walk around but didn't take any excursions.
We couldn't agree more with johnb999 ............ we also enjoy the Mariner and Adventurer class ship more than the Freedom class.......although we didn't have many children on the ship do to school being in session (we always choose to sail when children are in school) we were very surprised to see the Shrek characters all over the ship......we didn't enjoy that part at all...... We wouldn't sail on Disney because of the animation.......and often on this ship we started to think the same thing. We will be cruising on a smaller Royal ship in March.........hopefully the experience will be a bit more elegant than what we experienced on the Freedom.......
Like I said before, even with the Shrek characters we still had an amazing cruise..............but it was a different experience for us........
