Nice cruise with a little drama from hurricane Katia. We were supposed to arrive in Bermuda at 11 AM Sunday, but we sped up and got there for a 8 AM docking. Then we left early on Monday 5 PM instead of Tuesday 5 PM. This was to avoid Hurricane Katia. It seemed to work, because we never encountered any bad weather or rough seas. The Dawn was recently refitted in the Spring, so much was shiny and new. One negative was the removal of the fantail outdoor eating area that we enjoyed so much on the Spirit and Sun. This was replaced by a new fitness and spa facility. It seems to me that way more people would enjoy the outdoor area than would go to the spa or gym. So if you want to have your buffet meal outside, you have to use the pool area, which I did not like. Otherwise, everything was pretty much as you would expect for NCL. Main dining was great, no wait for a table except first night and that was only 10 minutes. Second City was really good, and other shows were good. Very nice showroom. We are casino goers and the Dawn has a nice casino area.

Bermuda was hot and humid. And because it was Sunday and Labor Day Monday, most stores were closed and Hamilton was a ghost town. Do not go on a Holiday! We bought a one day transportation pass. Ferry ride is nice, but then we decided to do the bus to Horseshoe Beach, and it was a hot and bumpy ride to hell and back. We will never ride the bus again. But we liked what we did see and unlike Nassau or Belize, we want to go back for a more complete visit to Bermuda. It seems to be a very friendly and safe destination. All areas are well kept and inviting. Embarkation in Boston was very easy. Getting off was not. They seemed to call too many groups at the same time which resulted in long lines. We drove, and the process of getting the car and picking up your luggage was poor. Took about an hour and a half total time. Some folks dragged their luggage to the parking garage about a block away, but then had to wait for an elevator to get to level 4 where cruise customers park. There was a small area outside the garage to wait, so one person can wait with the luggage while another retrieves the car.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MB

Cabin 11678. Full bathtub and toilet stall has sliding partition for privacy. Balconies in this aft area have sloping partitions and allow you to look into next balcony if you stand at the rail. Not a problem for us, but beware. One could actually access the next balcony by squeezing between partition and rail. Keep your patio door locked. Cafe is above, but noise was not disturbing. Otherwise a quiet area. Convenient to rear elevators and Venetian Restaurant, Garden Cafe. Hot water control on tub-shower was balky. Had to fiddle with it to get hot water at times.
