Sail Date: Aug 2011

We had a 14 day cruise on the Thompson Spirit from 5th - 19th August 2011, depating from Corfu, we we a little worried as some reviews had been poor and quite crittical of the age of the ship, well we needn't have bothered ,from setting foot on board the freindly staff could not do enough for you, the cabins were clean and comfortable ( if you want one of those hotel blocks at sea then book and pay for the privellage) this holiday cruise is all about fun, my only critism of the room was the age of the tv and lack of choice surley these days all tvs should be flay screen with satelitte tv as standard, apart from that the cabin was great we have never had so much storrage in a standar cabin. Dining on board was entirley up to you, from 24 hour dining in the lido or to the compass rose restaurant, service and choice was exellant, the was also sirocos ala carterestaurant but we chose not to use it as the food in the compass rose was excellant, wiater service was very good also, drinking aboard was no problem we went all inclusive and would reccomend it to anyone as great value for money, the waiters were at your call as and when required, and there was no short measures and all well known brands

Life aboard any cruise is what you make of it and aboard the spirit there is no pressure to go on organized excursions, though they are most helpfull and knowledgable about the ports of call, the only problem with the spirit and it was one that caused most noticable annoyance is the amount of deck space or lack of it, a very small rear deck 5 are wih main pool was like sardines, with an upper level deck 6 which again was woefully inaequate, there were large promonade decks along deck six but being on these one was not part of the ships eventsand waiter service was some what sparadic.there was a further bathing at deck 7 but again this was very limited, and finally a sun deck at level 10, but one might as well have been on another ship it was so remote and waiter service very poor, was is a waste of space is the sports deck for footfall using it, a waste of space that could have been used for bathing.

Entertainment was faultless the show team performed miracles on such a small stage and limmited sets, each show was spectacular, the overall effect wasthat of a much larger ensamble, the fun and quizes in the disco were memorable, there is limmited vision from some points, evening deck entertaiment is was was to be expected and great fun for all, as for ports of call apart from Kopar which was closed we had no problems with any of our ports of call
