The Battle of the Loungers!!!

Sail Date: August 2011
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Barcelona

The cruise was a great laugh. The main two factors for it being such a good laugh were the people we were with and the fact that there is so much to do on the ship...you could stay on it for two weeks without getting off and never get bored.

The red frog pub was great as was the gym...gotta have a balance!

three down points were:

1) Alkcoholic drinks are a rip off!!!

2) Longers are all taken on sea day by people that never come back so take there stuff off after an hour and give it to the staff to teach them a lesson. Germans seemed to like doing this the most, but we sorted that little problem with some subtle English wit.

3)It has a holiday camp feel with all the loud speaker calls trying to flog you their stuff every five minutes - 'watches at low low prices', 'get your pictures...must have memories' blah blah blah...I got a watch, and I got a camera!

Overall the cruise was great, the staff were brilliant, the ship looked classy More and the food was good...give the staff a good workout and oder room service as much as possible...wear a towel...one of em said to me that he'll never feel like a man again after I forgot.

My standout tip for everyone is....TAKE LOTS OF MONEY IF YOU LIKE A DRINK!!! Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Dubrovnik was amazing. Hidden gem, We all agreed we'd go back. The place is so clean. Lovely beaches and lagoons. The beach is a must. Again dont waste your money on paying for the cruise excursion as you can walk or cab it.

Monaco looks great from the boat, but there really isnt much to so when you get off. Its pretty much a medium sized road...also the kids are partial to urinating over the walls and into the sea, that was wierd.

Naples was awesome.

we climbed mount vesuvius...beautuful views. I recommend a) you hire a cab for the day as it will work out a quater of the price that the cruise want from you for a coach b) you tell your girlfriend beforehand that sandles are not appropriate footwear for a mountain.

odd thing - we got half way up the mountain and some old lady charged us 8 euros to get to the top....is it her mountain?!

Also visited Pompeii which is great fun and beautiful. Dont do the excursion as they rip you off big time. get your cabby to take you...you can follow the tour guidesd anyway and theres nothing they can do about it. We did that for a bit but it got boring so we went of in hunt of the dead bodies.

Again all places shut as the hamster people were sleeping again so we couldnt get pizza.

Venice is exactly what it looks like. It didnt disappoint and doesnt smell like everyone said. Also there were no hamster people here so we could drink and eat all day. Plaza St Marco is amazing but dont dont eat or drink there as they rip you off, go down any of the alleys by the rivers and you'll get good prices.
