Ship Facts: Carnival Sensation Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Sensation Deck Plans
Carnival Sensation - Western Caribbean
This was our second cruise with Carnival but not the last. The first was on Triumph a much larger ship then Sensation. But I think we actually enjoyed the Sensation more.

EMBARKATION: This was the inaugural cruise from New Orleans for Sensation and frankly I expected some delays and problems. Pleasantly surprised that all went smoothly and quickly. Our group of 2 couples arrived at the terminal at 10:00 and were on board at 11:10 with all the processing done and photos taken.

SHIP EXPERIENCE: Sensation is 40,000 tons smaller then Triumph but it feels like there is more room. Never felt the crush of crowds. We found the ship to be clean most of the time the exception being around 8:00 p.m. on the Lido deck when there was few crew assigned there at that time. Our cabin was always clean and our steward was friendly and always greeted us with a smile. The remainder of contacts with various crew found them to be pleasant and helpful. All told we found the Sensation to be a very enjoyable ship to be on.

DINING: We had early seating and had enjoyable meals. Our waiter and his assistant were on the ball attending to our every need. The meals in the dining room were first rate. Always cooked to perfection and always hot. Buffet and Lido hamburger stations were always well supplied and rarely had to wait longer then 10 minutes in line for anything.

ENTERTAINMENT: I have seen better shows but all in all they were good and did what they were supposed to do and that was to entertain the passengers on board. As for the casino it was fun but very tight on the slot machines. I think I saw one person win a jackpot the first night but nothing else the rest of the cruise.

PORTS: We went to Costa Maya and Cozumel on this trip. Costa Maya is still in the process of developing but there was plenty to do. Loads of shopping right off the ship and the excursions were fun. We did the glass bottom Kayak tour and had a ball. The guides were informative and when the actual paddling was done we were treated to an all you can eat taco buffet and all the pop/beer you could drink. What can you say about Cozumel that hasn't been said. Tons of shops without pushy salespeople and you can browse without hassle. Of course there is also Senior Frogs, Carlos and Charlies and Fat Tuesdays if you're thirsty. Local restaurants were very good and prices were reasonable.

OVER ALL CRUISE: Over all this was a very enjoyable cruise with no problems. We would have liked to have spent more time in the ports but the time there was pleasant. I would recommend Sensation to anyone and will cruise her again if the opportunity presents itself.
