Have just returned from a cruise on the Oceana (3 sept). never sailed from Southampton before. surprised by the reception at the terminal, very well organised from leaving the car and the porters collecting our luggage.
Check In was very quick i would estimate from arriving at dockside to sitting down to lunch in the Plaza 45 minutes. i would challenge any airport to beat that.
We have sailed with Royal Caribbean so P & O were up against tough opposition.
P&O have no worries, The cabin, food, entertainment was first class.
Friends and ourselves decided to choose fixed dining (8-30)this was in the Adriatic dinning room (table 101) Choice of menu for the week was superb, the food first class, many thanks to our waiters James, Cliffer, what ever we requested was provided. of course there were other venues to eat in we never felt the need. During the day the choice of venues to eat in was varied from buffet (plaza) to Marco Pierre White, to the Horizon Grill, over the week during the day we used them all,our opinion! excellent.
never got round to using the gym etc so cannot pass on comments.
Now to the entertainment, you read of the varied opinion's of the entertainment provided on Cruise ships.
let me assure anyone who is about to sail on the Oceana (unless they change the Entertainment) the Shows were of top quality, the other venues around the ship were of the same quality.
Trips, Stavanger, Alesund, Geiranger, Bergan.
Two outstanding of the four was Geiranger, and stavanger for there outstanding scenery. the others ok but not special.
All in all the Ship yes perhaps in need of an update, no flat TV screens,(didn't really have time to watch anything) the shower was a bit hit and miss regarding temperature, not a lot of space in the Bathroom but adequate. Towels changed twice a day, more if required. Ship announcement's did not intrude into your cabin, if you wanted to hear you put on the TV and tuned into the specific channel. This was a great cruise cannot wait to book the next.
