My husband and I are 1st time cruisers. Overall it was a great experience. Stayed overnight in Seattle at a hotel which had a park, cruise & shuttle rate. Easy trip to the pier. Had previously arranged for a wheelchair for my Mom who was traveling with my Sister. We spoke to a security officer about the prior arrangement, he located the wheelchair and the pier assistant. My husband quickly found a porter, he loaded our luggage and we managed to get through all the other passengers quickly, the pier assistant clearing the way with the wheelchair. Zipped right thru pre boarding and on the ship within 15 minutes. We went to the Windjammer for lunch. Pleased with the selection and quality of food. One drawback, very crowded and difficult to find a seat. When we finished with lunch we walked around the ship a bit exploring. We were informed our stateroom was ready about 1:00. Our luggage arrived mid afternoon which was a pleasant surprise, we had read our luggage may not make it until much later. We were very satisfied with the room and loved the balcony. The sofa was a bit worn, but acceptable.
Our shore excursions were fine, we did the tourist thing in Juneau, Skagway and Victoria. Interesting and informative.
The early dinner seating was great. Good menu selection, good service.
The one thing that really bothered me, the sell pitch. When we first boarded the ship, staff was trying to sell us a water package, a soda package, a photo package, that never ended, always someone trying to sell you something!
Room service was not good, it either came later than specified, earlier than requested, or in one case not at all.
We ordered the Romance package and the canapies were not delivered as promised in the sales literature. Petit fors...same situation until we brought it to the attention of our head waiter.
Once the cruise ended, the departure was very quick and painless. It took about 15 minutes total, off the ship, find luggage, got a taxi right away and back at the motel within 20-25 minutes.
Overall we were both pleased with the experience and hope to cruise to Hawaii spring of 2012, this time we'll try Holland!
