Dreams do come true!
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
This was to be the holiday of our lives (so far) to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, so it had to be extra special. We were not disappointed. As we had never cruised before, I spent many hours researching various companies and options and based on reviews and friends' recommendations, I am happy to say I chose this one. Immediately upon boarding, we knew I had made the right choice. The staff are so absolutely professional and committed to ensuring you have a great time - nothing was too much trouble. The ship was clean, tidy and comfortable, with the spectacular centrum area - a definite wow factor. We were pleasantly surprised at the 2 decent-sized swimming pools, large enough to swim in.
There was a reasonable range of activities, no need to be bored, but beds by the outdoor pool were hard to come by. Having said this, there were plenty of beds on the top deck, where it was more peaceful. The entertainment was quite good, especially in the theatre, but some more More variety (more upbeat) from the duos and other musicians would have been welcome.
Our cases were delivered promptly to our stateroom, but it didn't really matter anyway, as we were busy being fed and entertained upstairs at 'Windjammer'. The cabin was clean and comfortable and our stateroom attendant, Margarita, immediately introduced herself personally and remembered our names throughout the duration of the cruise. Nice touch with the towel animals at night.
The dining room was beautiful, with an impressive art deco statue at the foot of the sweeping staircase. We were served by Raul and Rommel - a very slick double act. I can't praise these two men highly enough: they were very friendly and fun, yet still highly professional. We ate in there every night and both enjoyed every single course of every meal: delicious!
Drinks on board are expensive, so we bought the beer package, which includes most drinks apart from juices. It also meant we didn't have to bother signing receipts or worrying about a hefty bill at the end.
We didn't go on any organised tours; some lasted 10 hours, which we felt was too long. We also thought they were rather expensive and quite enjoyed finding our own way on local transport at a fraction of the cost, which we did at Cicitavechia where we got the train to Rome and the Vatican. However, be very careful if you try to do this, as if you're not back on board on time, the ship will sail without you. Overall, a fantastic time & congratulations to Royal Caribbean on such fantastic staff. We can't wait for next time. Less
