We drove down from Manchester early morning, an easy drive as it was Sunday. Arrived at car park about 15 minutes from port. Easy transfer to ship, waited in queue for about 10 minutes. The counter staff were excellent, helpful and efficient. Once on board directed to Conservatory dining room where plenty of food and drinks kept us occupied until we could access our cabin.
The cabin exceeded our expectations, plenty of drawer and wardrobe space (but take a few of your own hangers). We had twin beds which were very comfortable.
The only problem was where to store suitcases as they would not fit under the beds. The bathroom was small but had just enough room to manage. Everything was kept spotlessly clean by our steward, who was always helpful and friendly.
We found the entertainment in the evening great. We had dinner in the Peninsular restaurant, at a table for 8. The food was superb and the waiters first-class. We couldn't have picked better dining companions. Then went to the Headliners show in the Theatre, they were fabulous. Lots of others must also have thought so, it was always packed. They had lots of other quizzes, games and quiet places to relax, but we went Ballroom dancing each evening. The host Roger and Ann were fantastic and on Sea days they taught popular dances.
We did two excursions booked with P&O. Booked Alla tours before we went for St Pete's and did our own thing the other days. P&O supplied a free Shuttle bus from port to town in most destinations which was a real bonus and a great idea.
The disembarkation went smoothly and we arrived home at 3.00pm. A great trip which we will always remember.
