Sail Date: Aug 2011

My recent cruise was with the Equinox in Civitavecchia Italy, August 8, 2011. Having cruised on the Celebrity Solstice, an exact replica of the Equinox (equinox is newer) my review is mainly on the difference of the two ships.

Although the layout is the same, I find the art and decorations of the Solstice to be more appealing than the Equinox. The main foyer of the Equinox has a gaudy looking vase that extends several floors with a caption between the floors that reads, "Here comes the sun". The whole thing looks like glue-on glitter made by an 8 year old.

Being in the Mediterranean in August, I did not bring long pants except for dress up nights. After being on long tours one does not feel like putting on long pants and closed shoes to be able to eat in the dining room. This was within reason allowed on the Solstice, not on Equinox. Specialty restaurants, I can see. The specialty restaurants by the way are exceptional on both ships.

Cabin Review

Cabin 1211, midship, less rocking, great balcony. Close to the library and elevators.
