Excellent cruising experience in the Med.

Sail Date: August 2011
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Other

We wanted a change from the yearly Gold Holidays and my partner reached the age of 60 so instead hotelling it was cruising for the first time.

we thought it was brilliant, nice ship although getting a bit old,but kept it very clean.(your cabin steward keeps your bed and cabin clean)

nice cabin on deck 8,upgraded to Pemier Cabin.lovely view from there but it seems to be THE SMOKERS DECK and they sit in front of you window,a bit annoying. the air conditioning can be adjusted in your cabin and was fine.

food on board this ship was excellent ( always hot)and plenty restaurants to have your dinner.

crew are ever so helpful!!! being a money free ship was very useful, just an account starts when you arrive as you have to pay for your drinks(pub prices)

we did not have the drinks "package" as we both are limited alcohol drinkers.

THE SWIMMING POOL IS UNFORTUNATELY VERY SMALL AND SALT WATER!!!!!!!!!!!.

POOL WAS MAINLY FOR THE More CHILDREN.

we did not go on any executions due to walking problems,Gibraltar was nice, enjoyed our walk & shopping there.(duty free)

it was very hot where ever we went,30-32 degrees, too hot to walk a lot.

on departure day,you will have received you invoice, but if you stay on the ship until your going to the airport, you cannot order any drinks as your account is closed and take to money from you card, hence no more drinks on the day of departure, you can get meals and water/coffee but no alcohol drinks. Less

Cabin review: Island Escape 8038

OUR CABIN 8038 PREMIER CABIN IN DECK WAS BRILLIANT FOR US,FREE VIEW. KEPT VERY CLEAN,BED KEPT CLEAN AND CHANGED,SAME WITH TOWELS ETC. AS I WROTE IN MY COMMENTS:DECK SEEMS TO BE A SMOKERS DECK,NO PROBLEM WITH THAT BUT PEOPLE SIT IN FRONT OF YOUR WINDOW WHICH MEANS NO VIEW.

Port and Shore Excursions

GIBRALTAR: A PORT WHERE YOU CAN GO FOR A WALK AND SHOPPING,VERY GOOD,

PLEASE NOTE: MANY PORT WE WENT ON THIS CRUISE ARE NOT ON THE LIST OF PORTS: PALMA ( DE MAJORCA ) PORT OF DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL. TANGIERS CASABLANCA ALMERIA CARTAGENA (SPAIN)
