This was my fourth cruise with Carnival, but first on the Triumph, and I have to say it was great!

We arrived at the port a little early around 10:30, so when we finished checking our luggage and getting checked in (which went pretty smooth), we did have to wait about an hour to actually board the ship around noon, must have had some stragglers getting off the previous cruise.

Once on board we made our way to the Lido and found the buffet, usual buffet fare, it was ok. About an hour later our room was ready (1:30) and surprisingly our luggage arrived a few minutes later! So I went ahead and unpacked to get it over with and headed out to see what was going on around the ship. We explored for awhile and got ready to see the ship off before getting ready for dinner, when the ship didn't leave at the usual time around 4:30, we assumed maybe they were waiting on late arrivals or something, but soon found out there were mechanical problems with the propulsion system and they were working to get it going, so we got ready and went to dinner.......kinda weird having dinner and seeing the port of New Orleans still out of the window! There were a lot of discussion at dinner about how it would affect excursions in Progreso, there was to be a letter sent to the room the next day explaining options. Turns out they made up most of the time (we didn't leave N.O. until after 9pm) but made it to Progreso only 1 hour late! They adjusted the excursion times by 1 hour and stayed 1 hour later in Progreso so no one missed out, couldn't believe it! Way to go, Captain!

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8D

First time in a balcony room and loved it, the only problem was that we got a trundle instead of a roll-away and my son is 6'4 so it was too small, but the cabin steward placed an extension that seemed to work well, will try to get roll-away next time. We were very close to the elevators but didn't hear too much noise as expected, nice surprise.
