I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the cruise we just recently took on the Carnival Spirit. We departed San Diego January 12th and returned January 20th. We were to have Ports of Call in Acapulco, Xtapia and Manzanillo. I had been dreaming of a cruise for many years and was very excited about the 8 days aboard the "Fun Ship." It turned out not to be much fun.

To start when we arrived in our cabin #8186 there were several issues. The phone was not working (never got fixed until the next afternoon). The television remote was broken (buttons completely missing). The safe was locked shut (not opened until late that night). It was still full of the last passenger's belongings. We were told by our cabin steward that she was in the hospital that day (with the flu and eye infection, which my roommate ended up getting) which was why the room was in the condition it was. Not a great start!

Then after several really bad shows I confronted Michael (Cruise Director) who informed me that they had to cancel all the Las Vegas style shows due to a stage problem, but they would have it fixed for the next cruise. All the acts were low level comedians, a hypnotist and a very bad mariachi band. Unless you were into Bingo and losing money in the casino there was nothing to do unless you wanted to participate in very silly games that catered to senior citizens. It was impossible to find a place to enjoy the sun without having to deal with someone smoking. The ship said they had restricted areas but none of these were enforced, in fact some of the offenders were crew members.
