Sail Date: Aug 2011
Traveled with children

This is the second August that we've sailed in the Caribbean. I traveled with my daughter's family including 2 girls ages 12 and almost 11 years. Their reactions and enjoyment of the cruise and the ship "colors" my own opinion as the objective was to show them a good time. The cruise was as much for them as the adults.

We stayed at the Summerfield Hyatt Suites the Friday prior to boarding on Saturday morning. This new hotel offers 2 bedroom suites that includes a common area with a kitchen and fold out double bed. This allowed grandfather to have his private bedroom as well as the parents with the kids sleeping in the common area. It all worked out well.

Boarding: We boarded the ship shortly after arriving at 11:00am. Since we had selected one of the Aqua Theater Suites #8330. The 2 suites on Deck 8 (port and starboard) have the largest veranda which is huge. We were allowed to enter our accommodations at 1pm just as we were told upon boarding. In the meantime we had lunch at the Park Cafe - a place not to miss on this ship. The beef sandwiches were just as advertised -- excellent.

Cabin Review

Suite 8330: As we entered the suite it was clear that the two girls were overwhelmed as they excitedly chased through the spacious area checking out the 2 bedrooms, baths and the living area and then the veranda which overlooks the Aqua Theater. There is not a thing about this suite that we are critical of as the location is good for watching the shows and other activity on the ship. Most of the eating venues and the concierge (Deck 11) are towards the aft of the ship so once at the elevators one easily found their way to their destination. The suite is spacious and easily accommodated the 5 of us. Even 8 people, which I believe is the max, would be comfortable in this suite. While not a negative for us, the AT Suites do not have luxury baths found in most of the upscale suites on RCCL and other ships. They are small but adequate. The climb into the master bedroom bathtub was slightly daunting - but that is largely because of the age of this writer. I also found my head pretty close to the ceiling as I stood in the shower. The shower stall in the second bath is small -- but adequate. The only other relative issue was that navigating through the TV to view menus, restaurants, etc. was slow and "clunky" - but it did work. We highly recommend the ATS for an extra special experience on this ship.
