This June, I decided to take my mother to go on Celebrity Alaska cruise as a way of relaxing and celebrating a hard-worked year (I'm a teacher, so my year goes from September to August). This was my 5th cruise my mother's 4th, and we've always tried to take different cruise line for each trip. After reading the Cruise Critics review, we were both excited about Celebrity, since it was named the best of the common-priced cruise lines by the site.

The decor and the service in the ship is definitely a 4.5/5, though we did experience a waitress that was extremely rude and inconsiderate up in the buffet. The entertainment is definitely superb, and we really had a great time with the shows and different activities on board.

So why the huge disappointment, you asked? Well, there are a couple of glaring faults that Celebrity did on Millenium that completely ruined our trip this time. The first is the food. The food is absolutely terrible on board. Whether it is the buffet, the main dining, or any other dining options (such as the tapas or sushi), they are bland and tasteless, and some are downright nasty. Each night, the main dining room's bread is always cold, and the butter is served in the unattractive metal foil package that you find in low-priced buffet on land. The meal choices are mediocre, with very little high end dishes such as good sea food (lobster or crab.... We got 1 lobster dinner in the 7 nights total, and no crabs), and some of them are cooked terribly. One night my mother ordered a seafood risotto, and she nearly threw up from the gamey taste. Luckily, this was toward the end of the cruise, because she refused to dine in the main dining room after that.
