Travelling down to Southampton on the Friday morning , we were rather excited and nervous , not being seasoned travellers, and we were wondering what was going to happen and what we would experience over the next 14 days ? .
On arrival at 11.30am we drove straight to the drop off point , a chap unloaded the cases as soon as the car stopped . A representative of the car parking company took the keys and off we went. A painless and quick start to the holiday . WOW, we were impressed .
Checking in was seamless , with a photo being taken for the cruise card , bank details given and then to the lounge for about 30 Min's .
Customer service given was great and all our expectations were exceeded . On the ship about 12.30 and directed and guided to the Venezia on deck 15 , for a buffet lunch .
Cabin B258 had a balcony and was clean , spacious enough and functional . Milandra was the cabin steward and she was both helpful and friendly . The balcony was not overlooked from above and had two sun chairs , one footstool and small table that doubled up as another footstool .
Food on the ship was to a good standard , we went freedom dining and it worked for us . We did not have to wait on any night , always had space in the Meridian restaurant
On a couple of nights we opted for the themed evenings in the Venezia buffet restaurant and again had no issues at all . Always found a table and service was always good . We found the staff helpful , polite and courteous at all times .
Entertainment provided was varied to meet the diverse passenger tastes and needs . If you wanted a piano recital or pub quiz you were catered for .
My only gripe was that you could not walk round the whole ship from the prom deck , deck 7 and had to cut across the ship at the front by the Playhouse theatre entrance.
Overall our expectations were met and exceeded , and we have booked again on the Ventura going out Saturday 20th August round the Western med again .
