Previous cruises have been to warm weather locations. It was a little different planning for cooler weather when packing for a cruise. The views and excursions were spectacular. I would definitely go for a balcony room for this cruise. We had exterior French doors with obstructed view. We were fortunate to be traveling with friends who had an extended balcony room. It was cold and rainy the day we sailed the Tracy Arm Fjord. This day was spent on our friends balcony. With layering our clothes we were comfortable and were able to see some amazing scenery.
A Skagway we rode a bus to Carcross Canada and rode the train back. Though a little pricey, it was well worth it. I would recommend the train excursion to everyone.
At Juneau we went whale watching. This was a very good excursion and we were able to see whales. The naturalist on board the ship said he whales are more active in July so when we return in 2014 we will go in July.
We chose to simply relax and shop in Ketchikan. This was a relaxing day for us.
A little disappointed in our stop in Victoria Canada. This was a late evening docking and there as very little to do other than shop.
This was a great cruise. It is the only one that we left with expressed plans to return.
As far as the ship - the staff of Carnival always does a fantastic job. My only criticism would be with the "comedians" on board. I kept wondering when the comedy would begin. I observed many people leave the show because it simply was not funny.
This was our 4th cruise with Carnival and we have been pleased. Just booked next cruise last night.
