Sail Date: May 2011
Cabin: Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

We sailed on the Veendam to Bermuda and we had a wonderful trip. We embarked in New York City we got to the terminal before the ship was ready for guests so we were able to sit in a VIP lounge (since we are 4 star mariners and had booked a suite.) which was a nice touch.

The Veendam is a very nice ship. Holland America has done a great job of redoing it. The only dumb thing about the Veendam is the back pool. They took out the old sea view pool and replaced it with "the retreat" which is 4 big hot tubs and a TV screen. It would have been nice to have two pools so that if you want to swim you have 2 pools to choose from.

The crews on the Veendam were very cheerful and happy to assist the passengers with any problem big or small. They were also happy to tell the passengers about the Island of Bermuda if you had questions, most of the crew had maps that they could show you since they go to Bermuda every week.

Cabin Review

Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

Cabin SA

Our Stateroom 033 was very nice we had a Deluxe Veranda Suite which was well appointed the only word of warning for those who book a suite on the Veendam is the Lido pool is right above the suites and if you book a suite under the pool you will hear the kids running back and forth and the staff at 5 a.m. when they move around the furniture to clean the pool deck so book a suite all the way in the back or all the way in the front. Just look at the ship floor plan before you pick your room and use your best judgment and you will be fine.

Also on the last day we were able to see the Penthouse Suite (001) because we got off late and the people in the Penthouse got of early. The only word to describe the Penthouse Suite is WOW!! It is hard to go back to your stateroom after you have seen the Penthouse. It has two marble bathrooms, a walk in closet, a butler's pantry with; a refrigerator, microwave, and a sink. The Penthouse Suite also has a large dining room table for 8 people as well as a big living room. For those who get to travel in the Veendam's Penthouse consider the rest of us jealous!!!
