Sailed on the Pearl out of Seattle for a 7 day cruise to Alaska. Ports visited included Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Victoria. Having cruised before, this was our first cruise on NCL. I must say I LOVED it. My husband and two children, ages 11 and 13 accompanied us and they also enjoyed it! They were the perfect age to take on the trip.

SEATTLE - EMBARKATION: Went extremely smooth. After dropping bags, went upstairs and was checked in. Only had to wait about 30 minutes and we were the third group to board. Were able to get right on the ship and start exploring. They were directing everyone to the outdoor cafe, but we headed to Summer Palace, one of the sit down dining restaurants. It was located at the rear of the ship with large windows so it was a perfect way to begin our vacation. We weren't in any hurry since we had to wait until 2pm for our staterooms to be ready. Wonderful start..service and food was good. While eating, we reviewed the Pearl Daily to see what was in store for our first day. We then headed up to the pool deck and purchased soda cards for the two kids. They loved having the sticker on their cards and being able to get their own drink from the bar. We then decided to take a guided ship tour as an orientation. We met in the Bliss Lounge and went on the tour. The tour only lasted about 40 minutes and gave us a good overview of everything. We ended up in the spa where they try to hook you into everything. We did buy the weekly spa passes (seemed like a deal at $119 each). It was never crowded when we went and it was very relaxing.

STATEROOM - Deck 11 Then it was time to go to our stateroom. We went to our stateroom on Deck 11 and it was wonderful. Plenty of room to unpack everything and the suitcases fit right under the bed. Our luggage arrived about 10 minutes after we did. The balcony was wonderful..the perfect size. The next thing we did was register the kids for the kids club and check out their activities for the week. The bed was very comfortable and the pull out couch easily fit two people and when made up for the day, had lots of room. TV in room could have been a little larger. Safe was nice to use too. There are also two chairs. Bathroom is very generously sized with seperate bathtub with enclosure doors and the toilet area has a sliding door too. Plenty of shelves to keep all bathroom necessities.
