This was to be a Holiday Dreams are made of, we took a year to plan it. We drove from Miami to San Diego to join the Ship, the road trip was amazing but after a month driving we were so looking forward to the luxury of a Ship's Cabin & all that pampering.
The night before sailing we stayed in the Sheraton, it was fantastic & we could see The Rotterdam sitting at the Pier in the morning just adding to our anticipation of what was to come.
We had done an on line check in so all went smoothly, we were aboard, but where was our welcoming glass of Bubbles & the usually enthusiastic crew, not on the Rotterdam!
Our Cabin was lovely we had a Balcony, lots of storage & even a jacuzzi bath!
Our Cabin Steward was an absolute gem couldn't do enough for us.
Unfortunately we were anchored off Maui when we got the Tsunami warning & once everyone was back on board we set sail for Honolulu, very scary! The Captain was very reassuring through our ordeal & kept the Passengers well informed
Since we arrived late in Honolulu we missed our tour to Pearl Harbour, disappointing but since we were all safe & well we just made the best of it.
Never having sailed with Holland America before we were unaware that the average age would be rising eighty, therefore empty Disco, empty Dance-floors & even empty Bars after 10pm, not much fun for the few Party Animals!
Note to Travel Agents please make future Holland America passengers aware of this!
Despite above, the Itinerary was absolutely amazing.
