We boarded the Equinox at Civitavecchia, Italy after a two night stay at the Hotel Miramare in Civitavecchia (a very good hotel for a pre cruise stay. We walked from our hotel to the port and embarked at approximately 11.30am - the ship allows you to board early but cabins are not ready until 2pm. The process was fine.

The ship was very clean and well looked after. Our cabin was a balcony cabin which my husband and I shared with our 16 year old son. The cabin's storage was sufficient for all of us and the beds (sofa bed and double bed) were comfortable. The bathroom was one of the largest and best designed we have had (the shower was larger than on a lot of ships). The balcony was a good size with 2 reclining chairs and table. The cabin steward kept everything tidy and clean.

We were on late seating in the dining room. I had read varying reviews on the standard of the food, all I can say is we were very happy with the choices on offer and the wine and waiter service. The service and choice of food in the Ocean view Cafe was also of a high standard - no complaints there and although the ship was busy we always were able to find a seat free when we went to eat. We also ate in the Murano Restaurant which was excellent both in terms of food quality and high level of service and dining experience and we think that the extra charge is worth it for a treat (although I wouldn't want to eat here every night!!)

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2A

Cabin 2A

We were in cabin 7135. The cabin size was good for all three of us and the bathroom excellent with a very spacious shower. Our only negative was that the cabin was very near the forward part of the ship and probably I would prefer next time to book one in more midship location because it always felt a long way from most things (particularly the Ocean View Cafe located aft!)
