Just came back from Bermuda on the Gem! I must say it was a great time, personally our 7th or 8th cruise and I wanted to share a few things positive about the ship.i was part of the mustache family! lol..i also just cruised a week prior onboard the Oasis of the Seas, which is with RC,needless to say that was a spectacular ship,BUT there where some flaws. Our group ate at all the UP CHARGE restaurants on the ship and they are worth it..We ate at La Cucina the first night,Gennena the manager,Christine, with that great smile and Francisco or Frankee as we called him,the bartender where FANTASTIC!Those 3 made us feel great on the first night at sea.I saw them through out the week, and they always said hello and remembered us. The service that night was great, and food was too.We had 14 in our group so not an easy task.Next was the Japanese Hibachi Restaurant, that was a fantastic meal,we all loved the fun and hard working employees that night, defiantly worth the upgrade! The French Restaurant was next, for me,that was the weak link, service was the worst there. The food for me and my wife were just blah.A few of our group dined there the night before as well and liked it,so I guess ya never know, but that one Im skipping next time. The last night was Cagneys steakhouse, this was where the fun began.Great food, great service and mustaches for everyone! lol..inside joke...that was a special night as we celebrated a 70th BDAY.Earlier the day before,I met the two people from the ship who where in charge of the complete ship, dinning etc.I told them about the 70th bday, and spoke about some goods and bads of the cruise since we were on the Oasis just 10 days prior..They asked for our cabin number and told me they would do something special at Cagneys for the bday..Well they did, they made a special cake, had a guitar player, and about 10 employees sing and it was just perfect. That was a night we will remember for a long time. The food there was awesome, and again well worth the extra money! We never ate in the main dinning rooms,so I cant go there...The everyday cafeteria food, lunch, breakfast and dinner was really very very good as well, and to me defiantly better then the Oasis of the Seas!..More to choose from etc, well done there!! The entertainment was great, comedian, second city cast, bingo, deal or no deal, bowling was cool too...Now for a few negatives... The pizza on the Gem,was blah..def could upgrade there..Cabin was a mini suite as they call it,HUGE bathroom..great shower pressure, only saw our cabin guy once the entire week? That was a little weird I guess, but he did a great job..i noticed some food and plates, cups left around the ship at times that probably should of been picked upped a little faster.Only one Roulette wheel in the casino, hard to get pool chairs, just get out there early..For me again,I would like a quiet pool area,no kids...other ships have this and its really nice..They had a White Out party the last night, and that was great until a fight broke out and they had to close the party down..A few drunk idiots ruin it for 200 others..also the bartenders behind the bars outside where not as attentive as others have been....All in all it was a great time, the Gem was a clean ship, most employees where very nice and i would cruise with them again..Thank you to the staff from the Gem who Truly went out of the way for us the last week of July..YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
