Voyager of the Seas - Venice - Sadly Disappointed
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
This was our second cruise on Voyager of the Seas, the first was around the western med and we fell in love with cruising, partly down to this ship.
Inbetween we have said around the Caribbean on two Princess cruise ships and coming back to Voyager of the Seas has turned out to be a huge disappointment.
We had read all the blogs before embarking on this cruise that the ship was in dire need of refurbishing, that the food was mediocre and the shows outdated - unfortunately its all true.
We held this ship with such affection that we didn't want to believe what others had told us, but alas, we saw with our own eyes our far this lovely ship has now slipped.
The ship is beautifully clean and does not superfically look as though any work is needed but it does! The decor is woefully outdated and too highly patterened for 2011. The atrium looks dark and the windows or curtains look dirty.
We were promised faithfully by our travel agent who even More rang RCI that the balcony in our room would be made of glass and not the terrible metal monstrosity that greeted us upon our arrival. We felt as though we were in a metal box.
The balcony furniture was old and tatty with the smallest table in the world. The floor was dirty and there was nothing inviting about sitting in a metal box.
I was travelling with my Twin sister and as close as we are, we didn't not want to share a double bed - but that also greeted us when we entered the cabin. We asked to be moved and the staff said they would try but to no avail. Feel bad writing this about VOTS but RCI really needs to get its act together and update this once lovely ship. Less

Cabin review: D36522 Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony
Balcony cabin - D3 category. Nice size for two adults, more than ample storage. Smallist bathroom - no extras. Metal balcony which makes you feel like you are in a box. Poor balcony furniture. General decor of cabin needs updating. Forward on the ship, so quite a walk to the lifts but fairly quite location.Read All Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony (D3) Reviews >>
Port and Shore Excursions
Wonderful beaches to swim in and a short taxi ride away is the town itself, which is full of shops, bars and a wonderful market.
Don't think I'd get tired of visiting St Thomas.
Venice was extremely busy but you could still move around and see the beautiful architecture and lovely shops and bars.
Definitely a place to revisit. Please note that it costs $25.00 to get a water taxi from the port right into Venice - this is if you booked through Voyager of the Seas - bit pricey.
