We are Carnival Platinum members and have cruised many times with this line; this trip, however, will be our last. On the positive side, the staterooms were very well maintained and spacious. The room steward staff was exceptional, and were all very friendly and helpful. The itinerary we sailed on was unique (St. Thomas, Tortola, Antigua, Nassau) and we particularly enjoyed the ports of Tortola and Antigua. The rest of our experiences on this ship were mediocre or worse.
In general, the staff is disinterested in providing a positive customer experience and we often waited for staff members to stop chatting to obtain service at the buffet or towel hut; most did not offer a basic greeting or offer a "thank you" or "enjoy your day". Camp Carnival staff were far more stern than they should have been, and were short with kids and parents alike. Dining room service was poor at every meal regardless of the wait staff involved and a drink was rarely refilled without a couple of requests first. On sea days, it was nearly impossible to obtain food for lunch without a long wait in a line. Passengers had things stolen from the pool deck (including us) and an announcement was even made one day for the return of a camera that was taken earlier in the week. The ship seemed far more crowded to us than any other sold out cruise we have been on, and Promenade was impossible for a couple to walk down side by side most evenings. Picture taking opportunities were placed directly in the walkways which didn't help. Dining areas do not have nearly the handwashing or sanitizing opportunities provided by other lines, and the only (and broken) hand sanitizer dispenser at one of the main dining rooms took two complaints from us to the maitre'd (at two different meals) to be fixed. On the whole, we were very disappointed by our experience.
