AWESOME Baltic Cruise on the Sun
Fantastic itinerary and we both love NCL. We did 2 back to back Baltic cruises for 18 days. Have been on 10 NCL cruises so far. Excellent value...great customer service. NCL Baltic cruise was just fantastic. Thanks to the charming Captain, public relations director, housekeeping, restaurant manager and to Stephen Jacobsen (Hotel Manager) for excellent service.
Embarkation
Embarkation was well organized. We arrived at the port late in the afternoon after 5 days in lovely Copenhagen. We took a taxi to the port around 4 and went right on the ship...no muss, no fuss. We love to go later in the afternoon for this reason.
Public Rooms and Cabins
Lovely cabin number 9231 with balcony, mid ship and fantastic housekeeping staff! Lots of room for storage. Housekeeping staff were always funny and pleasant. Lots of the Cruise Critic members chose Deck 9 also as it is quiet. Public rooms were sparkling clean and newly refurbished.
Shows
The magic show was awesome. Also the musical shows were just wonderful...we really enjoyed them each night at the early show and had a late dinner afterwards. Entertainers were very talented. The Russian Folk show was wonderful on the ship. Russian language classes and a Viking history lectures were interesting.
Dining
Both main dining rooms were good. Usually there was a good choice of daily specialties and always a basic menu available of chicken, fish, steak, vegetarian or pasta available every day. Not gourmet food but excellent value. If you want French gourmet, there was the specialty restuarant Le Bistro and also the Steakhouse, Italian, Moderno and Teppanyaki.
We didn't have many lunches on the ship due to full day excursions and lunches off ship but liked to use the main dining room or Moderno with pizza, pasta and sandwiches. NCL has BBQ parties for sailaway most nights.
We ate breakfast at Seven Seas most days and had awesome omelettes, french toast, eggs benedict, etc. without lining up or searching for seats at the buffet. Other days such as our early excursions to Berlin and Sweden we had room service delivered by a very friendly young man.
When we arrived back to the Sun in the late afternoons, we were able to grab a snack at the Great Outdoors Cafe.
Service
The service providers were GREAT. Housekeeping provided fresh towels and cute towel animals. Anything we needed was delivered right away. They could not do enough for us!!!
Shore Excursions
We used both NCL shore excursions with private tour companies. For St Pete's, we researched a private tour operator. The NCL excursions that we did use were wonderful and well priced.
Excellent Value
We LOVED our NCL Sun Baltic cruise and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. Excellent value for the money and found a beautiful amber necklace on the NCL Sun in the Jewellery store much less $$ than in St. Petes. Got many complements on it.
Overall
The NCL Sun is a fabulous ship and a great itinerary for the Baltic cruise. We're going on a 14 day Eastern and Western Caribbean Cruise in January on the NCL Sun. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!
