Good Week on the Magic
This was our first time in Europe, so we didn't know what to expect. Embarking was pretty fast and easy. The terminal in Barcelona is nice and modern. The ship I personally found was very nice and modern. I know a lot of people say it's tacky and cheap but I didn't feel this way about it. It was very clean and the public spaces were nice and open. The buffet was always very good, and the dining room was great too, except some nights service was slow and ate up a lot of the night. John Heald was very funny but I never saw him in person once.
Messina: We did not like this port. We took the train to Taoromina but by the time we got there we had to leave right away. That was our fault for getting off to a late start. Just not much to do in Messina.
Naples: Probably my favorite day. Toured Pompeii (very cool), and the Amalfi Coast which is very scenic. The towns built into the cliffs were amazing and the road is extended out over the cliff which is very neat.
Rome: More We did Rome at its Best thru Carnival. Tiring day but got to see the colosseum which was very cool. Ate lunch at an authentic restaurant but we couldn't pick what we wanted.
Livorno: Went to see Florence and Leaning Tower of Pisa. Neat cities but watch out for the guys selling sun glasses and watches in Pisa. They will NOT take no for an answer. Just keep walking.
Monaco: We were so tired at this point we decided to just have a relaxing day on the ship. Very neat looking city though.
Overall it was a pretty good trip. The ship is very nice, no complaints there. The ports are tiring but it's neat to see. If you want to see Italy, go by cruise. Less
