We found the opening times of the Moonlight Sonata restrictive and the tables far too close together. Because of the limited opening times i.e. 1 - 1.5 hours at breakfast and lunch and at ridiculous times - we were forced to serve ourselves in the Oceanview cafe. Forgive me but if we had wanted a self service holiday we could have gone to Butlins for far less than we paid for our luxury 5 star cruise! To get a cup of coffee poured at table or to find a clean empty table was challenging to say the least.
On the whole we found the waiting staff to be very off-hand and rushed to take your order before you had even opened the menu. Then proceeded at break neck speed to get you out of the restaurant as quickly as possible.
We cruised on the RCL Independence of the Seas in September 2009 - which we could not fault in any way - plus we have cruised with other lines - so to say we were extremely disappointed with Celebrity is an understatement.
The entertainment was extremely poor - not what you could call star studded productions - certainly not up to the West End standard of the RCL productions. The only entertainment we truly enjoyed were the fleeting visits made to various locations by the Rip Tides.
On the whole we found the ship lacked the "wow" factor. Despite making several complaints and asking to speak with the Food & Beverages Manager - this was never achieved. He did call twice and leave vm when we were out of the cabin saying he would contact us in the morning - but never did. How convenient.
We will certainly remember our 40th Wedding Anniversary cruise but for all the wrong reasons. We would cruise with RCL again but not with Celebrity under any circumstances. They let us down very badly and failed to address the problems we were experiencing.
