First the good.
The Liberty public spaces are in pretty good shape for an older ship but appears to be due for some refurbishment. The embarkation and debarkation precess was well done. Dining was OK. We chose your time dining and once we found a good waiter after 3 days we stuck with him.
Service has seen a serious decline. Fewer staff working longer hours seemed to be the rule. We waited over an hour one evening to even place our dinner order as it appeared the wait staff had to support too many tables. If you were seated far from their wait station you were likely to be overlooked.
We knew what to expect from Carnival but the crowd was more unruly, and rude than Carnival normal. Huge private functions (Quinceanera) seemed to take over the ship at random times. Rooms and hallways seemd to be very warm with little ability to control temperature in the cabin. When asked to check we got the standard card saying it met Carnival standards. One aft grill remained closed the entire trip and dining lines at anytime for breakfast or lunch were absurd.Serving lines were poorly staffed and the food quality was so-so at best.
We did have a nice vacation but it was more in spite of Carnival. We booked independent tours and had a much better experience for the effort.
Three of our five cruises were on Carnival but we are unlikely to try them on the next one. Somebody else gets our business next time.
