Stateroom - We selected a D4 inside cabin for this trip. The room had twin beds and two drop down beds from the ceiling for the kids. There was plenty of storage space and the bathroom was adequate. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept great. The cabin is located amidships between stairways B and C on the starboard side. Good location.
Embarkation - The Manhattan Cruise Terminal stinks. There is always a long line on 12th Ave. getting to the pier and then long waits to park and drop off luggage. It took us an hour to park and drop our bags!! It is always the same. Once we got into the terminal, Cunard was very well organized. We got through security in about 10 mins. and then 10 mins. later we were checked in and boarding the ship. The Carnival Miracle was also boarding at the time and they had it sequenced perfectly. Kudos for Cunard!
Dining - The food quality and selection in the Brittania dining room was wonderful! Everything was well prepared and served timely. Darryl our waiter was friendly and efficient. Dinner every night was a wonderful experience. We had great tablemates in Jon and Jonathan. It was great food and conversation every night. We ate breakfast and lunch in the Kings Court. The buffet was very good. The food was hot and fresh, the selection wide and the service great! Crowding was minimal and the eating experience was very pleasurable.
Children's Club - The kids loved The Zone. Alot of fun stuff from sports, to art, movies, games, crafts, scavenger hunts, ship tours, etc. Our 7 year old son was in the 6 to 12 group as there weren't many kids on board. Our 13 year old son was not impresssed with the Teen Club. QM2 does not have a teen space dedicated, so they use a meeting room in Connexions. Luckily he does well with younger kids and had fun partaking in activities in The Zone.
Entertainment - The production shows with the Cunard Singers and Dancers were very good. We especially liked Apassionata. It was dance review show. The headline entertainment was also very good. The comedian John Joseph was very funny. We had seen him on our previous RCI cruise. The headline singer did a blues show, which was not aligned with the crowd very well. The older crowd would have done better with his Nat King Cole tribute show in my opinion. We also went to a Bermuda Triangle lecture that was great! We learned alot there. The planetarium show was also very good and we all loved it. You need to get tickets for the planetarium show at Connexions starting at 9am the day of the show. They have multiple show times during the day.
Service - The service was exemplary. This was an improvement from our previous QM2 voyages. Everyone was friendly and eager to assist us in any way possible. Emerson our stateroom attendant was very good.
Ports - Halifax and Boston. Did the Cunard and Titanic tour in Halifax. It was excellent and we had a great time. The kids loved it too. The Salem Witchcraft Museum tour in Salem, MA was just okay. The museum was small and the tour guide was poor. Not enough time was spent on the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and I felt like I should have learned more. The 4th of July fireworks in Boston were very good. We got a good view of the fireworks from the surrounding communities. Boston's fireworks did not start until 10:30pm and were partially blocked from our view by pier side buildings. Too bad we could not berth closer to the fireworks location.
Disembarkation - Was well organized and went very quickly. We were piped off the ship 15 mins. prior to our assigned time and had our bags and were in the car in less than 30 mins. Great job Cunard!!
Summary - Overall we had a great time on the QM2 once again. Every time we see her it is like seeing an old friend. And she is always hard to leave.
