We took this cruise because it left on a Sunday and because it included Glacier Bay. We had a mid ship balcony and the room was occupied by parents and 23 year old daughter. The RoomBathroom was nice sized compared to other cruises. To the first time cruiser the bathroom will be tiny. Toilet area is a little small and "big jobs" are better suited for the public restrooms which have more knee room. Changing clothes in bathroom will be difficult for plus size people. It was tight for an average sized 5'!0' 195 pound man.Bed was very comfortable and very much enjoyed leaving sliding glass balcony door open so we could hear the ocean while we slept. Room has small sofa that folds out to a bed. This is OK for one adult or two small kids...not suitable for two adults. When open it does block the way to the balcony. We made more room by moving table under TV to under sitting area, moving chair to balcony and moving another small table to the center of the wall. Closet space is excellent and there are cube storage spaces so we had room for all our stuff. Safe was large enough for a DSLR and large lens plus other stuff. Refrig was filled with misc drinks so we moved all to the bottom drawer and filled it with all our stuff. Be sure to move it back early last night of the cruise so they can lock it and not charge you for all the original stuff. Balcony was nice but the rail was the exact height of your eye level when sitting in the chair. We came with carry-on luggage only and could have brought less. They had a dress up dinner night (or two) and we along with 80% of the people wore jeans. FoodThey have two main "free" dinning rooms and several "extra fee" dinning rooms plus a large buffet. The buffet was the largest I have seen in 6 cruises. The variety of food was excellent and was very good. I thought it was comparable to the "free" dinning rooms. This included pork chops, burgers, indian food, steak, pasta, pizza, omelets, etc. Some people have stated the food was not very good..I disagree....the meatloaf was awful but pretty much everything else was good. Perhaps you will not like it if you always eat at a major high dollar food place...but it is excellent for the average person. We ate at the Chinese and Tex-Mex "extra Fee" places and it was surprising how bad these were. We expected extra cost to mean very good. These were pretty bad...the Tex Mex was about the quality of your average (not good) place. The Chinese was just bad...if not awful. It was a waste of money for both places as we could have better food at the "free" places. I could have gone the entire cruise using only the garden cafe buffet--it was that good. Finding a place to sit is a chore.EntertainmentGreat and not so great. The four seasons tribute singers are awsome. Sharkbait was awsome, the comedian was good, the second city group was so-so and the NCL dancers and singers were so bad we could not see their second performance. They perform the first night and you will see how bad they are - I think my snoring sounded better then their singing.Other TipsDon't bring a serving tray as others have stated - not needed...Bring an extension cordbring less clothesbring a mug so you can have more than 6 oz of drink at a time
